And That's A Wrap!

And That's A Wrap!

Hello Friend,

Happy Winter Solstice! Welcome to my last newsletter of 2024 - a short and sweet one this month.

What’s on my mind

Hopefully this email finds you well and ready for the festive season ahead? On my mind at the moment is the list of things I need to do before Christmas - not because I’ve been disorganised, but because I’ve been busy with a brand new full time job! Yes - being back in full time work has its pros and cons - the pros being a regular wage packet and lovely colleagues, and the cons being far less time with my family and less time to paint. However, I’m always mindful of the following quote by Clarissa Pinkola Estates;

"I've seen women insist on cleaning everything in the house before they could sit down to write... and you know it's a funny thing about housecleaning... it never comes to an end. Perfect way to stop a woman. A woman must be careful to not allow over-responsibility (or over-respectabilty) to steal her necessary creative rests, riffs, and raptures. She simply must put her foot down and say no to half of what she believes she "should" be doing. Art is not meant to be created in stolen moments only.”
― Dr Clarissa Pinkola Estés

So, despite my new job taking up a lot of time, expect plenty more art from me in the months to come :)

What’s on my easel

I am still working on the Scottish painting, which will form my new British Isles series, in the style of my Dragon Daffodil painting. I am also sketching out ideas for some stand alone pieces I plan to complete next year. On my desk this morning was a last minute sale from my online store - a very welcome order of one of my 2025 Moon Calendars. There are still some left for those last minute gifts, and if you live locally to me I can probably deliver it to you if you need it rushed.

What’s next

Taking a little break from social media to regroup with my planner and create my painting schedule for next year is what I'll be doing next. That and my annual rewatch of the Christmas special of The Good Life with a glass of mulled wine! :)
And finally….

I'd like to thank you so much for subscribing to my newsletter and for all your support of my art over the last year.
Wishing you a wonderful Christmas/Yule/Holiday with you and yours - and a very healthy and Happy New Year.
Gem x
