Happy September!

I hope your summer has been fun. I love having the children home from school and we were lucky enough to go on 2 breaks while school was out - once abroad and once on our semi-regular visit to St Davids.

I made sure to take my mini artist supplies with me, and here are a few of the paintings I made while away - the smallest ones measure just 2 inches square. Painting at such a small scale is great fun and much easier to complete in one sitting. It's a lovely souvenir of time spent on holiday.

While in St Davids, I was lucky enough to visit a few of the galleries taking part in the North Pembrokeshire Art Trail and really enjoyed looking at the amazing work produced by the artists taking part. If you get the change to visit an art trail or open studio in the near future, I'd really recommend it.

As wonderful as spending time away with the family is, there is always something reassuring about getting back into a routine after a break. September always makes me think of the new academic year - a time to take stock and make plans as if it was a second new year.

With that in mind, I wanted to let you all know first about the flash sale I will be running in December. A different item from my online shop will be deeply discounted each day for the first 12 days, and once they’re gone they’re gone! Ending the sale on the 12th will also give me enough time to ensure your orders arrive in plenty of time for Christmas - art makes a wonderful and original gift!

On the easel this month are the horses I am working on - a series of 4, each based on one of the elements - Earth, Air, Fire and Water. Once completed, the originals and prints will be available on my online store. Here’s a little look at how they are progressing so far….

And finally, in case you’re wondering  about the title of this email - it refers to the fact that I went on a pub crawl for the first time in a very long time! My wonderful Sister-In-Law and I went on a local bus route that takes in an astonishing number of pubs along the way. An excellent tip my husband once gave me (Thanks Neil!) is that if you’re going to be having a few drinks, eating some cheese before hand (in my case a mini babybel or two) can line your stomach and help you absorb alcohol slower. Not sure if there’s any science behind it, but it was worth a try and I thankfully avoided a headache the next day. :)

That’s it for this month. If you’d like to receive a code for free postage, be sure to sign up to my mailing list and look out for my next newsletter.

Cheers,

Gemma
